Egyptians
We learn from early Egyptian hieroglyphics dating back over 2000 years ago that Egyptians believed that the bond of marriage between male and female was so powerful that not even death could not interfere. Discovered as a symbolic way to represent the union between two people they weren’t necessarily used to mark a specific occasion, but used them simply as a symbol of both eternal love and life. made of a rather ordinary circle of metal these rings were designed in the style of a serpent devouring its own tail which commonly symbolized eternity referred to as the Ouroboros.
Modern day Eternity Ring
Diamonds the most popular gemstones for eternity rings nowadays, rubies, sapphires, emeralds and other stones are also quite popular, usually in second place to diamonds. Although the full eternity is traditional, there are many reasons why it is not frequently seen one of which is that it is normally custom made. It cannot be resized normally to fit a person’s finger making an eternity ring all the more special and unique to the wearer. Many of the rings made today are precision set. Machine setting in this way ensures the diamonds have a flawless finish each time. The amount of diamonds can also be varied. A variety of styles exist, across many of the bands.
